Where Once He Stood - new novella coming this May!

The next couple of months are already looking busy, with Come Sing for the Harrowing coming from CLASH Books on 21 April - but I'm thrilled to say that I have another book planned for May.

Where Once He Stood is a weird exploration of fatherhood and leaps of faith, touching upon crime fiction and Satanic horror (I know!). It's actually fairly long for a novella, but also short for a novel... so make of it what you will. Some of my favourite writers had nice things to say about it:

"This skilful dark fantasy novella put me in mind of du Maurier's Don't Look Now and Clarke's Piranesi. Unnerving and sometimes disturbing, it is nevertheless at heart a story about the enduring nature of love." - Una McCormack

"Where Once He Stood moves from a gripping premise to one frightening reveal after another, and at its heart there's a dark mystery that demands to be solved. I raced through it." - Aliya Whiteley

"A tender and affecting tale of parental grief that recalls Alan Garner’s strange fables and is ever more plausible the further it strays into fantastical territory." - Tim Major

"An intriguing exploration of what happens when you lose childhood but discover magic." - Alison Littlewood

Where Once He Stood will be published by Black Shuck Books on 28 May, but you can pre-order a copy here.
